Tat2X Supports The Skin Cancer Foundation
Posted on April 26 2018
According to the Skin Cancer Foundation there are two million cases of skin cancer diagnosed in the U.S. each year. It is the most common form of cancer and one in five Americans will develop skin cancer during their lifetime. The prevalence of some types of skin cancer has increased by over 800% since 1970. There’s little doubt that the intensity of the sun’s rays has been rising steadily over the last few decades. 2016 was the hottest year in recorded history until 2017. The evidence can be a bit overwhelming and the primary message is that we all need to protect our skin from the sun. Most people already know that Ink Armor™ sleeves by Tat2X® do an excellent job of concealing tattoos in the workplace. However, most people don’t realize that Ink Armor sleeves also provide excellent protection from the sun.
Our original founder, Mo Nelson, understands the importance of protecting your ink and skin from the sun having had skin cancer twice. Ink Armor is a product that is not only functional for working professionals who need to cover their tattoos, but it also provides superior shielding from the sun. The fabric blend used for Ink Armor tattoo cover up sleeves gives you amazing sun protection at UPF 50+. In other words, our sleeves block 96% of the sun’s most harmful rays. Nothing will deteriorate a tattoo more quickly than prolonged exposure to the sun. UV rays break down the pigments in your skin and this will start to blur and fade your tattoos. You want your tattoos to stay sharp for years before you go in for any touch up or tattoo cover up work. Protecting your body art when outside will help it last and preserve the crispness of any detailed line work in your tattoo piece. Brightly colored inks are the most susceptible to sun damage. Black and grey tattoos are still vulnerable but light and bright colors like red, blue and green will fade faster than black.
The Skin Cancer Foundation recommends wearing protective clothing while working or playing outside. Golfing, sailing, running, gardening and surfing are just a few of the activities that benefit from the use of Ink Armor. Tat2X would like to officially release our Ink Armor sleeves as an aid in the prevention of skin cancer. Ink Armor sleeves stay cool in the heat and can also get wet without any issues. The chances of getting skin cancer can be dramatically reduced by simply protecting your skin when you are outside. Tat2X believes in the power of prevention and will continue to support this cause. A portion of our profits are donated directly to the Skin Cancer Foundation. We strive to give back to the communities that support us and helping in the fight against skin cancer is something we feel very strongly about!
